Ask John

What is Your Favorite Song?

My favorite song is "Imagine" by John Lennon. It creates a vision of a positive, hopeful, and peaceful world. This world may not be attainable, but it is nice to contemplate such a world. It encourages us to try to make this world a better place for all. Whenever I hear this song, I am overcome with a peaceful, easy feeling. It is timeless.

"Imagine"
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

No offense intended, but I can't stand that song! I agree that it would be nice to live in peace and harmony, but it is very depressing to think that this is all there is.

It's a great song. No offense Andrew, but with exception to 'Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky', I imagine this is how life will be once God creates the new earth and heaven as prophesied in Revelation.

Very good way to visualize this song. I've never thought of it that way. I have a huge passion for music as well. The Beatles are among my favorites.

Always been one of my favorites, but I tend to be a Pollyanna type anyway.
